But now, according the new assessment level country list; released on 30 Sep 2017, India is listed under the AL 2 Countries so now it is not necessary for Indian students to show funds to embassy when they are applying for the level 1 or level 2 colleges and universities, only your colleges/universities will check it. (But the embassy might ask it).

 

According to DIBP it is important to lodge the Student Visa Application before 6 weeks from the course commencement date.
