University of Manitoba – Description

The University of Manitoba is located on Anishinabe and Metis traditional land and is home to a thriving community of Indigenous researchers, staff and more than 2,000 First Nations, Metis and Inuit students, including over 3,580 graduate students — one of the largest Indigenous student bodies in the country.

Our university stimulates over $1.8 billion in economic activity in the province, and we are leaders in Manitoba’s knowledge economy with groundbreaking research in areas such as nanotechnology, functional foods and nutraceuticals, HIV/AIDS, and climate change.

Admission process in University of Manitoba

General Admission Requirements:

  • Completion of Grade 12
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Sufficient knowledge of the English Language

Note: IELTS Band scores are the best way to demonstrate knowledge of the English language. Please refer to our course catalogue which states each program’s English requirements.

University of Manitoba does accept international students without an IELTS Band score, however University of Manitoba does require that international students have a sufficient knowledge of the English language to be able to understand the program.

If an international student did not have IELTS, University of Manitoba would strongly recommend that the student take ESL (English as a Second Language) classes before progressing into their desired program. If a student was deemed to not have a good enough understanding of the language after their ESL course had ended, they may be required to take additional language courses while completing their program.
